Donate to the Colorado-based Chinese Earthquake Fund
In response to the tragic earthquakes in China the Colorado-based Chinese Earthquake Fund (EIN 36-4632633) has been formed. CSCCI encourages those wanting to help the victims to make a donation to the Fund. All donations support immediate transportation of medical supplies to Sichuan hospitals where hundreds of thousands of earthquake victims, many of them school-ages children, are being treated. Full details on donation procedures can be found at the following web site: http://chinaquake.zhan.cn.yahoo.com/
Your generous support is sincerely appreciated.
Special Announcement Regarding Chinese New Year Festival!
The Chinese New Year Celebration has been an important component of CSCCI's mission for the past 7 years. It has played a significant role in helping to link the Pikes Peak region with Chinese culture in a fun and engaging way.
As you can imagine, the commitment to host this event is significant and in the past the event has been organized on a strictly voluntary basis. Two of the key volunteers who helped to orchestrate the event in the past were unable to make a similar commitment this year. After significant thought the CSCCI Board made the decision to step back from the event in 2008 and reassess our approach. Our objective is to host the event again in the future, but only when we are confident we can do so in a way that show cases Chinese culture in the best way possible.
We are considering various options going forward including the formation of strategic partnerships in the community, involvement of new volunteers, engagement of a professional event planner and the evaluation of alternative venues.
CSCCI is a nonprofit, volunteer based organization and a strong membership base is critical to our ability to offer programs such as the Chinese New Year Festival. Please consider becoming a member if you have not done so already. If you have an interest in volunteering to help organize the Chinese New Year Celebration or other CSCCI events inthe future, please contact us at 719-287-7624 (Mali Hsu). We would be grateful for your involvement.
