"Asian Lunar New Year--2008--The Year of the Rat"
主 講 人 Wally G. Astor, Ph.D.

Dr. Astor recently retired as Vice President of Education at Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs. He is currently Vice President of the Colorado Springs Chinese Cultural Institute. Dr. Astor has lectured frequently both locally and nationally in the areas of Chinese business, language and culture. He speaks Japanese and Chinese, and has taught both languages at the college level. Dr. Astor holds certificates and degrees from the University of Tampa, Yale University, Middlebury College, San Francisco State College, University of Hawaii, University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and Georgetown University. Dr. Astor will give an entertaining PowerPoint presentation on the origin of Chinese (Asian) Lunar New Year, background and traditions in the celebration of the New Year, the “Animal Cycle” and related information and some of the astrology associated with the “Year of the Rat” the first animal in the 12-year animal cycle.
