Clayfest Empty Bowl Wonton Fundraiser

for

The Clayfest

The Clayfest is an annual celebration of clay where free lessons throwing on the wheel are given to any and all who would try their hand. We are proud to raise the funds for this event with an empty bowl event. Beautiful, durable (and affordable!) stoneware bowls are sold for $10.00. Each is filled with our delicious wontons. For $10.00 more the bowl becomes bottomless.  In this way we buy clay and pay our teachers.  The amount we raise determines the extent of our endeavors. Each year we have lessons at the What If Festival in downtown Colorado Springs. This year’s What If Festival happens on September 19th from 10-4pm. Lessons are free of charge and the clay is recycled. Pieces can be fired for $5.00 and those pieces will be available for decorating and glazing at the Clayfest, 2 weeks later.

The Clayfest will take place at Soda Springs Pavilion in Soda Springs Park in Manitou Springs. It will run from 10- 4pm on Saturday and Sunday October 5th and 6th. We will have a kiln running both days for any who would decorate and fire their pottery from the What If Festival. Blanks from professionals will also be available to decorate and fire for a small fee.

Our fundraiser will happen on September 13th at the Manitou Art Center from 1-4pm. The wontons will be stuffed with a filling made from pork, shrimp, cabbage and mushrooms and served in a chicken ginger broth. Also available will be a chicken and mustard green filling. The vegan option will feature a filling of salted black beans and tofu in a mushroom cabbage broth. Bowls are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe with non-toxic glazes.
